Hettie Marjorie (Donegan) Luce, 91, died on Aug. 12, 2011, in Decatur, Georgia. She was born in Seguin, Texas on Sept. 25, 1919, the eldest of six children born to Hettie (Giffen) Donegan and Charles Henry Donegan, Sr.

Marjorie was educated in the Seguin Public Schools, Southern Methodist University, and the University of Texas. She was a talented artist, working mainly in oils and watercolors. She began painting as a child, taking special lessons at Incarnate Word College in San Antonio on Saturdays.

Marjorie was married to Arthur Ellis "Buck" Luce in July, 1940. This union produced four children - three daughters and one son - Edith Noel Luce McPherson (Ronald), Sharon Ann Luce Shoaf, Catherine Elizabeth Marella-Luce (June), and Michael Donegan Luce (Karen). Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, "Buck"and her daughter, Sharon. Two of her brothers, Henry Donegan, Jr. and Benton Donegan preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by a sister-in-law, Idalen (Hey) Donegan and two brothers-in-law, Raleigh Custer and Bernard Larson.

Two of her daughters and her son survive her.

Other survivors include two brothers, John Donegan, Emmett Donegan (Geri), a sister, Patricia Donegan Custer, three sisters-in-law, Marjorie Weyel Donegan, Mary Louise Still Donegan, and LaVerne Luce Larson Crow. She leaves nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of the First Methodist Church, Seguin, on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at 2 p.m. A reception will follow.
