Bobby James Helms, age 73, died Monday, March 11th, at Elm Croft Memory Care Center. Funeral services will held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 13th at First Free Will Baptist Church in Florence, with burial following in Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Bobby was born in Darlington, son of the late Hazel Brown Helms and the late Doris Blackmon Helms. He served in the South Carolina National Guard for over twenty years. He had retired from Pee Dee Electric Co-Op as a warehouse manager. Bobby was a Mason and a Shriner and enjoyed fishing when in his free time. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Florence.

He is survived by his wife Marie Elmore Helms, two daughters, Margarita (Steve) Fuller of Darlington, Jennifer Riddle of Florence, grandchildren, Linsey Fuller and Jasi Dean Fuller, a step-son, David Scott (Angie) Marlowe of Darlington, step-grandchildren: David "Alec" Marlowe, Candace Marie Marlowe, sisters, Anne H. (Ray) Graham, Jane H. (Ken) Gunter, Alice H. (Gary)James, a brother, Hazel Frank Helms, all of the Mechanicsville Community, a sister-in-law, Miriam J. Andrews of Darlington, a brother-in-law, Cecil L. (Peggy) Elmore of Kinston, NC, two sisters-in-law, Anne E. Farmer of LaGrange, NC, Marie D. Elmore of Kinston, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Belvadean J. Helms.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Frank Hill, Charles Vaught and Jimmy Thomlinson and the staff of Elm Croft and Agape Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
