Nell Benton Fuller died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at Moses Cone Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at Fellowship Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Westminster Gardens.

She was born April 6, 1917, in Rock Hill, S.C., a daughter of the late James N. and Annie Benton. She received an A.B. degree in chemistry from WCUNC in 1940. She worked her way through college doing library work as a part of the National Youth Program of President Roosevelt. After teaching high school for three years in Stony Point, she accepted an assistant librarian position at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine. After 15 months, Mrs. Fuller became head librarian, a position held from 1945 to 1962. After her husbands death, she received a M.S. degree in library science from UNC-Chapel Hill. Later that year, she accepted the acquisitions librarian job at the University of Virginia Medical School. She retired in 1984 as assistant director for special projects at the Claude Moore Health Sciences Library.

She is survived by brother, George B. Benton of Greensboro; sisters, Ruth Benton, Mary Benton and Becky McCorquodale of Greensboro and Frances Cronin of Powder Springs, Ga.; extended family, Glen, Linda, Thad, Josh and Nat Willison of Greensboro; and loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home North Elm Street.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Urban Ministry or Hospice of Moses Cone Hospital.
