Joseph Earl Canary, 56, Reed, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, at Owensboro Medical Health System.

He was born Feb. 16, 1950, in Daviess County. He was a truck driver with Double A Services for three years and a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. He was a member of AMVETS Post 119, American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Canary, who died in 2000; and four brothers, James Canary, who died in 1952, Bud Canary, who died in 1997, Claude Canary, who died in 1971, and Leroy Canary, who died in 1977.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Phyllis Ralph Canary; two daughters, Donna Galloway and her husband, Ronnie, of Owensboro and Erica Jo Payne and her husband, Charlie, of Central City, Ky.; one son, Stanley Brent Canary of Reed; his mother, Helen Hester Canary of Owensboro; three sisters, Genevieve "Sissy" Reddish of Stanley, Ky., Betty Hatfield Greenwell and Carolyn "Sue" Boehman, both of Owensboro; four brothers, Larry Canary, Louis Canary, Mike Canary and Bruce Canary, all of Stanley; six grandchildren, Whitney and Mallory Galloway, Zachary Hudson and Angel Payne, Hunter and Peyton Canary; several nieces and nephews and two aunts.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Augustine Catholic Church. The Rev. Ray Goetz will officiate. Burial will be in St. Augustine Catholic Church Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro, with prayers at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Augustine Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
