Oliver J. Franklin, 73, of Pittsfied and retired custodian at Pittsfield High School, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004 at the Pittsfield Healthcare Center. He was born June 2, 1931 in Pleasant Hill to Everett and Lucille E. Craigmiles Franklin. He married Alice J. Askew Franklin Nov. 19, 1955 in Quincy and she survives. In addition to his wife, survivors are his mother, Lucille Franklin of Pleasant Hill; four daughters, two sons, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, an infant brother, a sister and a nephew. Mr. Franklin was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Pittsfield American Post 152. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Bill Smith were held Friday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. at the Ward-Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill. Visitation was held Friday from noon until time of services in the funeral home. Burial with military honors was at Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. Casket bearers were Derrick Johnson, David Johnson, Donald Johnson, Justin Hall, Albert Otero and Craig Seymour. Memorials may be made to the charity or organization of the donor's choice.
