Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Peabody of Kennekuk will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary with an open house on Saturday afternoon. Dec. 20, from 2 to 5 o'clock at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Richard Killoren in Kennekuk. The Peabody's are early day resident of the Muscotah community, Mr. Peabody having been born at Muscotah, the son of pioneer settlers, Mr. and Mrs. George Peabody. Mrs. Peabody, the former Grace Munger was born near Oklahoma City. She came to Kansas When she was 13 years old, following the death of her father, to make her home with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Woodard, who resided on a farm five miles west of Muscotah. She live with the Woodards until her marriage to Harlan Peabody on Dec. 23, 1903. The marriage was performed in Holton and the couple began their married life on a farm near Muscotah. They resided in the Muscotah community until 1923, when they moved to Kennekuk, about two miles southeast of Horton, where they now reside. After settling in Kennekuk Mr. Peabody worked in the Rock Island Railroad shops in Horton until his retirement in 1945. Mr. and Mrs. Peabody are the parents of five children, including Mrs. Paul (Georgia) Tulk of Horton; Mrs. Peter (Anna) Smith of Whiting; Mrs, Richard (Viriginia) Killoren of Kennekuk; Harlan Peabody jr. of Whiting; and Freeman of the the home. Mrs. Killoren teaches in the Horton city schools. The couple also have six grandchildren. The children presented Mr. and Mrs. Peabody with a television set as an anniversary gift.
