William spent the later part of his adolescents playing baseball. With a career that spanned over a decade, William, better known as "Walloping Willie Enos," started his baseball career in the pioneer league with the Boise Pilots at the age of 19. He then played for the Salt Lake City Bee's, the San Francisco Seals, the Modesto Reds and ended his 15 year career with Pittsburg of the California State League in 1952.
