A pall of sorrow was cast over Leakesville and Greene county, last Sunday evening at 3:45 o'clock, when life left Mrs. Octovaia Maranda Shepherd Brannon, wife of the late Benjamin H. Brannon, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. H. White, Leakesville.
Mrs. Brannon had lived a long and useful life, but had for the past few year been an invalid due to a stroke of paralysis.
Mrs. Brannon was born December 6, 1857.
Seven children survive her. They are: I. T. Brannon, Avera; B. R. Brannon, Tupelo; M. L. Brannon, Pearl River, La., and G. E. Brannon, Leakesville; Mrs. R. P. Williams, 303 Church Street, Laurel; Mrs. T. H. White and Mrs. C. B. Blalock, both of Leakesville, and twenty-seven grand children, and five great grand children.
Funeral services were conducted at the Leakesville Baptist church Monday morning by her pastor, Rev. W. E. Stewart, assisted by Rev. M. R. Jones, and interment made in cemetery along side of other love ones at McLain.
