DIED, at his home in McLain, Miss., on Saturday, Nov 15, 1913 at 1:30 a.m., Mr. Ben H. Brannan, aged a little above 57 years. Some eight or nine years ago he had a severe attack of typhoid fever which physicians connect with his death probably in the way of bright's disease. He was born and raised and spent most of his time in Greene county, moving to McLain some three or four years ago. He married a Shepherd, Maranda by christian name, who survives him and they had been wedded 34 years this spring past. ... He is survived by the following relatives besides his wife;--brothers, Ira M. Brannan and Wesley of Shipman, and Dan Brannan of Citronelle, Ala. Sisters: Mrs. Frances Welford wife of Henry of Shipman and Mrs. Sarah Whatley wife of John Whatley deceased of Shipman. In the way of immediate family: 7 living children of whom four are boys as follows--M.L. Brannan of Leaf and G.E. Brannan of Lucedale, both married; then R. A. and Boyd, single but grown. Daughters: Mrs. C. B. Blalock whose christian name is Polly; and Misses Albina and Lucinda.....The deceased was buried in McLain. Published in the Greene County (MS) Herald, 21 Nov 1913.
