He was born November 28, 1924 in Alleghany County, Virginia a son of the late Lewis Oscar and Blanche Nicely Curtis.
Mr. Curtis was a retired Machinist from the C&O Railroad, a member of the Lone Star Advent Christian Church, Clifton Forge and was a US Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Griffith Curtis of Clifton Forge; two sisters, Evelyn Persinger and Geraldine Loving both of Clifton Forge; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul "P. C." and Birdie Curtis and Grayson and Nancy Curtis both of Clifton Forge and Carlos and Cindy Curtis; a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Karen L. Meadows of High Point, NC; special friends, Donna Nicely and Peggy Nicely both of Clifton Forge.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Phillip Andrew Curtis in 1981; four brothers, Quincy Curtis, Cleveland Wayne Curtis, Kenneth Curtis and Cletus Curtis; and one sister, Mable Waters.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 10, 2004 from the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:30 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge and other times at the residence. Active pallbearers will be Bob Putnam, Charles Downey, Freemont "Sonny" Nicely, Terry Loving, B. Eddy Nicely, Rodger Brown, Ermon David Nicely and Clovis Vess.
The family suggest memorial tributes in Ollie's name be made to either the Lone Star Advent Christian Church, 4704 Nicelytown Road, Clifton Forge, VA 24422 or to the Mountain Regional Hospice, Volunteers, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
