HEREFORD — Ruth Irene Baird, 97, of Hereford died Tuesday, March 5, 2013.

Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Hereford with the Rev. Kyle Streun, pastor, Michael Hale and Johnny Tims, sons-in-law, officiating. Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hereford Heritage Funeral Home, 411 E. Sixth St. in Hereford.

Mrs. Baird was born Nov. 3, 1915, in Robert Lee to Ed Mac Watson and Allie June Herring Watson. She married Ernest Olen Baird on Sept. 4, 1934, in New Mexico.

Survivors included three sons, Edward Ernest "Ernie" Baird and Ross Baird, all of Hereford, and John Lawrence Baird of Amarillo; two daughters, Pearl Tims of Chickasha, Okla., and Olinda Hale of Center; a brother, Hillard Watson of Fort Worth; a sister, Janie Overman of Granbury; 19 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church Lottie Moon Offering or Annie Armstong Home Missions, 500 Main St., Hereford, TX 79045.

Ruth Irene Baird, 97, longtime Hereford resident, died March 5, 2013 at her residence with her family at her bedside.

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 9, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Hereford. Rev. Kyle Streun, Pastor, Michael Hale and Johnny Tims, sons-in-law, will officiate. Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hereford Heritage Funeral Home, 411 E 6th Street.

Ruth Irene was born, November 3, 1915 in Robert Lee, Texas, to Ed Mac Watson and Allie June Herring Watson. She married Ernest Olen Baird, on September 4, 1934. Olen and Irene moved to Hereford in 1959 from Floydada. She was a member of First Baptist Church and Senior Adults Sunday School Class. Over her lifetime, she taught Sunday School, worked with the youth, WMU Program, GA's and the Mission Programs. She was a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association. Irene loved her Lord and family. She will be dearly missed by ALL who loved her.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Olen, step-mother, Nola Brantley Watson, 2 brothers, Carl and Willard Watson, 2 sisters, Olivia Reeves and Vera "Sylvia" Watson.

Survivors included 3 sons, Ernest "Ernie" Baird, Ross Baird and wife Linda, all of Hereford, Lawrence Baird and wife Jo of Amarillo, 2 daughters, Pearl Tims and husband Johnny of Chickasha, OK, Olinda Hale and husband Michael of Center, TX, 1 brother, Hillard Watson of McKinney, TX, 1 sister, Janie Overman of Granbury, TX, 19 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, 10 Great-Great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church Lottie Moon Offering or Annie Armstong Home Missions, 500 Main, Hereford, Texas 79045.

We, the family of Irene, would like to express our sincere "Thank You" to the special caregivers, Delma Mendez, Hereford Regional Medical Center Home Health staff, Integra Care Hospice staff. You ALL were a blessing to our mother and our family. Thank You!

The family will receive friends and visitors at the funeral home on Friday evening, 6-7:30 pm.
