Harold had been constable of Faulkner County, Arkansas for as long as I can remember. I saw him more in court than I did any other time. When I was in court with a boyfriend or a friend who he knew was trouble, he'd come up to me, pat me on the back, shake his head and tell me that person is trouble. But he'd have a small smirk at the same time and would snicker a little.
Although he wasn't my uncle, I always thought of him as an uncle and called him Uncle Harold throughout my life. His sister (still alive), my Aunt Linda Ward Maddox's (by marriage to my mom's brother, Daniel David Maddox, Jr.) side of the family have always been like my own. Their sister, Emma Lou passed on with cancer a few years ago. Their father, G Ward also passed away a couple of years ago. Their mother was Connie Ward
