The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Martinsville Bible Church, Martinsville, Illinois, with the Rev. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will be at Medsker Cemetery in Martinsville, Illinois. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Greenwell Funeral Home in Martinsville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born April 28, 1936, in Clark County, the son of Darrell Jacob and Bonnie (Medsker) Simpson. He married Barbara Ellen Carpenter in 1954; she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Jerry Simpson of Effingham, Illinois; and Danny Simpson of Casey, Illinois; one daughter, JoLee Reichert of Martinsville, Illinois; one brother, Larry Simpson of Martinsville, Illinois; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Simpson was formerly employed in highway construction. He was also a mechanic and farmer, and was employed at Raymond (Red) Calvert's garage. He was a member of Island Grove Baptist Church.
