George S. Richards, a fifteen-year-old convert to the Church, was living at Haun’s Mill in Missouri where several Mormon families had gathered in 1838. On 30 October 1838 young George was among those brutally murdered when a mob of anti-Mormons attacked the camp in the infamous Haun's Mill Massacre.

Located : on the north bank of Shoal Creek, in what is now Fairview Township. George is one of 17 Mormons killed in the Haun's Mill Massacre.
