Delmier Burks, 91, of Merryville, LA passed from this life on Sunday, March 3, 2013 in Rosepine, LA. Mr. Burks served in the United States Army for 4 years, where he received The Purple Heart and was honorably discharged. He worked for many years at LCIS as a guard. He retired from civil service in the Transportation Dept. at Fort Polk after 26 years. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter and husband of Merryville, LA; son of San Antonio, TX; sister of Merryville, LA; three grandchildren; four great grandchildern; dearest friend, Peggy; her two daughters and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Coslet Burks; brothers, Acie and Archie Burks; sisters, Vera Jean Coburn, Betty Ruth McDaniel, Inez Lanier and Goldie Travis.The family would like to thank the staff, residents and their families, of Rosepine Retirement and Rehabilitation Center and Brighton Bridge Hospice.

Funeral services were Thursday, March 7, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Merryville, LA. Burial followed at Meadows Cemetery in Merryville, LA. Bro. Wayne Squyres officiated.

Services were under Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.
