STAUNTON:

Wayland Donald "Wayne" Balser, 81, husband of Joan (Tankesley) Balser of 818 Robertson Street passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Balser was born in Augusta County on September 18, 1931, a
son of the late Charles and Inez Balser.
Wayne was a retired truck driver and supervisor with Wilson Trucking after thirty years of service and a member of the Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Balser enjoyed cooking, baking and carpentry before his illness.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Balser was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving in addition to his wife of fifty-three years is a daughter, Cindy Dawn Tuning and a special son-in-law Billy of Churchville; two grandsons, Bryan Tuning and Bill Tuning; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Ray Deese.
Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
Active pallbearers will be Frank Tuning, Wayne Marshall, Gary Marshall, Jeff Kirtz, Timmy Hevener and Danny Hevener.
Honorary pallbearers are Bryan Tuning, Bill Tuning, George Marshall, Don Galloway and Doug Galloway.
It is suggested those desiring may make memorial contributions to
the American Cancer Society, 42 Neff Avenue, Suite 210, Harrisonburg VA 22801 or the Alzheimer's Association, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 306, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
