Janette Gist Zaslow, 91, died Thursday February 28, 2013 peacefully with her children at her side. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Zaslow; son, David Zaslow (Deidre Argyle); sister, Dr. Marilyn Farquhar; step-brother, Barton Smith; cousins; nieces; nephews; and many close friends who were considered family.
Born and raised in Tulare, California, to Brooks and Alta Gist, she graduated from UC Berkeley and worked as a psychologist and accountant. Janette was a loving, caring, concerned mother, sister and aunt. She was generous, funny, engaging, and thoughtful. She loved to talk about the Gist family genealogy, food, travel, art, and life.
A private funeral service will be held graveside at Tulare Cemetery Saturday, March 16, 2013. A memorial fund has been established in Janette's name to support the Alzheimer's Association. Donations can be made at alz.org.
