Adalida Wood, nee Weatherman, died at the home of her daughter Vianna, Mrs. James Estep, on Thursday, the 13th of October, 1921, being 78 years old. She was born on Bull Creek, in Christian county, Mo., in 1843. She was married to Henry Wood in 1864, in Franklin County, Mo., Mr. Wood was a veteran of the civil war. He preceded here to the beyond by about ten years. Since widow hood she has lived most of the time in Springfield, owning residence property near Hamlin Memorial Baptist Church. At the time of her death she was making her home with Esteps. She was a professor of religion since in her teens and lived at all times a consistent Christian life, being a member of the United Brethren Church during the time the church existed at Walnut Shade. She leaves three sons, C.P. of Walnut Shade, Marlon of Kansas and S. G. of Springfield, and one daughter, Vianna Estep of Walnut Shade; four brothers, Chris, Jasper, Grant and Benjamin Weatherman, and three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Keithley, Mrs. J. W. Estep and Mrs. J. C. Palmer. They were all present at her funeral except her son S. G. and her brother Jasper, of Tag, Ark.,. Besides the above a host of relatives and friends mourn her lose. Services were held at the school house near the cemetery on Friday, October 14, by the writer and Rev. M. Cosvenor. A large concourse was present to pay the last tribute of respect to one who was loved and respected by all. - J.C. Palmer
