On James Calhoun Helm's death certificate it states that Lima was the town in Bandera County that he died in. While Lima don't exist today, it was a non-incorporated community from about 1881 until about 1924. According to Texas State Historical Association "Lima, also known as Horse Valley, was near Farm Road 2107 twenty miles northwest of Bandera in northern Bandera County. A free school opened there in 1881. The Lima Post Office was established in 1898, an was discontinued in 1924. The community was not labeled on county maps in the 1940s, but several scattered houses were in the area".
