Her first husband was William N Nutz. They were married in 1861 in Alton, IL. According to her documents from Mt Pleasant, they had two children. But, the newspapers only write about one, their son Alfred Wolford Nutz. He had many jobs and there are many articles about him.
Her second husband was Nathaniel William Thatcher. She was his second wife. They lived in Kansas.
Helen became disorientated around December, 1896. Her family took her to The Roper St Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital in Makaska County, IA in August, 1897. She died in November in the hospital. The records say she had a tumor or something similar in her brain. The was disorientated, cursing, cutting and tearing her clothes, etc.
Her Death Certificate does not list her parents nor her maiden name. Neither do the two page records from the hospital.

The second clue was to look in the Alton, IL newspaper for an article about Nutz and Helen A. because the records said she was from IL and newspaper articles had her son traveling to Alton to visit family. That led to the reprinted 1908 newspaper article of her marriage in Alton, IL in 1861. That gave her maiden name of Wolford. On Ancestry, there are a couple of trees with her and her parents, but not her husbands or death. But, it lead to finding her parents.
