The daughter of John R. Robertson and Berniece V. Henson, Shirley married Jack Thomas "Duke" Loyd on 15 May 1952 in Odin, Illinois. She graduated from Roxana High School in Roxana, Madison County, Illinois the following month.
Shirley and Duke were the parents of 3 children. She worked as a cashier at South Roxana Grade School for 20 years.
Shirley fought 4 courageous battles with cancer. At the time of her death, she was 67 years and 20 days old.
She was survived by her husband, Duke; her mother, Berniece Hooper; 2 daughters and sons-in-law; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; 1 brother and sister-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, John; and 1 daughter, Cynthia Renee Loyd.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on 17 Sep 2001 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, Illinois. It was continued for an hour preceding funeral services at Vaughn Hill Community of Christ Church (RLDS).
Shirley's husband, Duke, passed away in 2014 and was buried next to her.
