Carole graduated from nursing school in Georgia and worked in that field for many years. However, she devoted most of her life to taking care of her family. She was a cancer survivor and despite many personal struggles, she maintained a good sense of humor and continued to put others first. She was a loving person with a generous nature and a strong spirit.
Carole is survived by her husband, Wayne Carbone; daughter, Betsy (Fox) Hickey; grandchildren, Hailee and Jesse Hickey; mother, Alice Barnette; sisters, Libby Foster, Marie Woods, Shirley Hargus and Susan Setzer; and mother-in-law Rose Carbone. She is preceded in death by her father, John Barnette. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends around the world who loved her very much.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Jan. 31 from 5-7 p.m. at the Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Funeral service and burial are private.
