Mrs. Rose Mimick, 68, Rt. 3, Columbus, died early this morning in the Lutheran hospital. She had been ill about two months. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Bonaventure Catholic church wit the Rev. Quintin Fullam officiating, and burial will be in St. Bonaventure cemetery. The body will lie in state...at the McKown Funeral home...
Mrs. Mimick, daughter of the late Martin and Catherine Czapla Shemek, was born Feb. 3, 1893 in Polk county and received her education in the Polk county schools, later coming to Columbus. She was married to Peter Mimick on June 5, 1912, in Columbus. They lived in Omaha for a short time, then farmed north of Columbus until Mr. Mimick's death, March 24, 1951. Mrs. Mimick was a member of St. Bonaventure parish.
She is survived by six sons and five daughters, Carl, alex, Clarence and Ted of Columbus; Henry of Fremont; Peter, jr., of Madison; Mrs. Steve (Dorothy) Rogers, Ms. Albert (Frances) O'Connor, Mrs. Carroll (Leona) Blaser, Mrs. James (Mathilda) Valasek of Columbus and Mrs. Carroll (Lorrie Lou) Henke, all of Columbus. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren; five brothers, Joe and Edward Shemek of Columbus, Alvin of Fullerton, Frank of Cedar Rapids, Louis of Osceola; two sisters, Mrs. Vickie Hilger of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Clara Zulkowski of Ord. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Alex, Jim and Henry Shemek; one sister, Mrs. Ann Micek; an infant daughter and one grandchild.
