Word has been received of the death of Julia Anne "Julie" Darrah on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at Uihlein Living Center.

She was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Sugarbush, the daughter of Michael and Anna Ryan Keese. She was a graduate of Saranac Lake High School, Class of 1944. She was married to Francis Darrah in 1948. Frank predeceased her in 1989.

Julie worked for the Saranac Lake Central School District for 26 years, retiring in December 1991.
Julie was a member of St. Bernard's Parish, Catholic Daughters of America Court 787, CSEA Retirees and was a former member of Saranac Lake Women's Bowling Association. After her retirement, she volunteered at Adirondack Medical Center, High Peaks Hospice and Petrova School.

She is survived by her brother Michael Keese of Rochester; good friend Michael Ryan; many nieces and nephews; three daughters and sons-in-law: Kathryn and Dormer Stephen of Plattsburgh, Donna and Dennis Deily of Rochester, and Joanne and Jerry Cavallo of Saranac Lake; six grandchildren: Dormer (Erin) Stephen, Brent (Kerri) Stephen, Nichole (Jay) Chaffee, Meghan (Michael) Friedle, Alyssa Cavallo and Christopher Cavallo, and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters Monica and Catherine.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2 at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at noon at St. Bernard's Church. Burial will take place at St. Bernard's Cemetery in the Spring.

Donations in Julie's memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Assistance Center, 101 Broad Street, Sibley Hall Room 227, Plattsburgh, NY 12901 in care of the funeral home or charity of choice.
