Marie Antoinette "Nettie" Kier was the youngest child of William Kier and Catherine Slack Kier. She was born in Brown County, Ohio and by her 10th birthday (1860), the family was living in Warren County, Illinois. And by 1866, the family was living in Chariton County, MO just north of the town of Mendon. Her father owned 80 acres there and her oldest brother John A Kier had another 80 acres across the road. In 1875 her mother died and was buried near Mendon, MO. Her father and siblings sold all of their property and split up and some members moved to Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa, and later to Oklahoma. . Marie married George Powers Dudney in Caroll County, MO on 24 Sept 1872. By 1885, Marie and her husband and 5 of their kids were living in Menoken, Shawnee, KS. In 1895, she and her husband and kids were living in Auburn, KS. In 1900, she and George and 6 of their kids were living in Colorado. By 1910, she had moved to Wabaunsee County, KS where she and her husband spent most of the rest of their lives.
