Ogden – Keith E. Atkinson, 90, of Ogden returned to Heavenly Father on February 26, 2013. He was born on August 20, 1922 in Malad, Idaho, the ninth child of Frank and Margaret Atkinson.

He married Jeanette Ward on May 27, 1949 in The Salt Lake Temple. They have been best friends for 63 years. They have five children, Gene (Linda) Atkinson, Lynn (Shirley) Atkinson, Karen (Mark) Turley, Blaine (Debbie) Atkinson and Susan (Don) Dahl. They also have 22 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; all nine of his siblings and his granddaughter, Emily.

He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was raised in the Weber County, Utah area. He graduated from Weber High School and at age 20 he joined the United States Army Air Corps to serve his country in World War II. He was a gunner in a B-17 Bomber. He was stationed in England and flew 28 missions over Europe, including the D-Day Invasion on June 6, 1944.

After his honorable discharge from the Air Corps, Keith served an LDS Mission in the Northwestern States from 1947-1949.

Soon after he returned from his mission he married his sweetheart Jeanette. He retired from the Ogden City Fire Department as a Captain after 35 years.

Keith was an avid gardener, skilled welder, mechanic and handyman. There was nothing broken that he could not repair. Keith loved to go camping, vacationing and spend time with his family. He gave his whole life in service to his wife, family, community and Heavenly Father.

He served in many callings in his church including four Bishoprics, twice as a Bishop, High Council, Ogden Temple worker for 16 years and Family History name extraction worker for 12 years. Our husband, father and grandfather was truly a remarkable man.

He lived his life with faith in God, untiring service to others, patriotism to his country, personal integrity and a love for work. We are deeply grateful for his life.
