Born in Lake Comorant, Mississippi, Tommy was an important part of the St. Louis Blues community for more than 50 years. A cousin of Elmore James, he played in Memphis before moving to St. Louis in 1949. Best known as a guitarist, he also played the harmonica, drums and bass. He performed with such jazz legends as Woodrow Adams and the 3 B's, Joe Hill Louis, Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, Oliver Sain, Little Milton, Henry Townsend, Elmore James and Albert King. His own groups included "The Landrockers" and "The Blues Eldorados." In his later years, he worked as a security guard and a sheriff's deputy. He died of complications from emphysema.
