Warren Eugene Ward "Gene", age 79, of Flint, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at McLaren of Flint. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM at Bristol United Methodist Church, 5285 VanSlyke Rd., in Flint. Rev. Marvin Herman officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday 12-1PM at the church. Burial will be at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday 5-7PM and Monday 10-3PM and 5-7pm at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6603 Fenton Road, Flint. Memorial contributions may be made to Bristol United Methodist Church. Gene was born in Breckenridge, Michigan, the son of the late Dale Wesley and Leona Isabelle Mecomber Ward. He married Erma Lois Ward in Swartz Creek on August 20, 1955. Gene served as a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He was employed in the construction industry until his retirement in 1988. Gene took pride in his work, every detail covered and each measurement checked for accuracy. After retirement Gene continued to take construction projects and enjoyed them as well. In his leisure, he also enjoyed reading. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Erma; 4 children, Diane McConnell(Rick) of Prudenville, Kymn Carlin (Todd) of Schoolcraft, Lynette Ward of Lansing, Leigh Suthard (Tim)of Flaler Beach, Florida: 8 grandchildren: 1 Great Grandson; brother,David Royce (Marilyn); Sister, Sharon Stevenson, cousins and several nieces and nephews and good friends. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Karen Ward in 2010, and son Dennis Ward, in 2012.
