James A. Corder, North Maple Street, Somerset, died suddenly Thursday, March 20, 1997, at Columbia Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was 76.

Born October 19, 1920, in Somerset, he was a son of the late James A. and Gertrude Stephens Corder, Sr. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a retired machinist for Norfolk Southern Railway and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Flynn Corder, whom he married May 20, 1944, at Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Somerset; two sons, Bob (and Kathy) Corder, Tallahassee, Florida, and Chuck (and Sherrie) Corder, Somerset; a daughter, Jimmie C. (and Jim) Miller, Tallahassee, Florida; a brother, Ed Corder, Natchtoches, Louisiana; a sister, Mitzi Gregory, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a niece, Jenny (and Bill) Gilmore, Somerset; an aunt, Lois Bourne, Somerset; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Jones.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company with the Rev. Thomas Adams and Dr. Ralph Wesley officiating. Burial will follow in Somerset Cemetery.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Donations are preferred to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
