RILEY-- Judith Ann (Clampitt) Heikes, 70, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 at Mercy Regional Health Center, Manhattan.

Mrs. Heikes was born on March 11, 1942 at her parent's home in Alma, Kan. the daughter of James Orin and Sarah (Pio) Clampitt.

She married Leland Fred "Joe" Heikes on Dec. 31, 1966 at Leonardville. He preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 2007.

She and her sister Helen "Trix" Fasse owned and operated the Calico Inn in Riley for 27 years. During that time she and her family opened the Calico Inn Too in Blue Rapids, Kan., later selling the Calico Inn Too. She went on to cook for sororities and fraternities at Kansas State University until she retired because of health issues.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Trix Fasse.

Survivors include three children, Tammy Viers and husband R.J. of Nathrop, Colo., Jackie Rose of Frankfort and Jason Heikes and wife Lisa of Riley; three sisters-in-law, Doris Heikes, Marilyn Myers and husband Dale and Anita Jensen and husband Don; seven grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Riley Cemetery.
