THE DEATH RECORD.

E. M. WHEELER—at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Will Petty, in Canton on Saturday, June 9, occurred the death of Elijah M. Wheeler, after an illness of several months with cancer of the face. He was aged 86 years.

The body was brought to this city Monday afternoon for burial, accompanied by daughter and husband and their daughter. Friends met the funeral party at the train and the remains were taken to Maple Grove cemetery, where the burial took place after brief services conducted by Rev. A. A. White.

Mr. Wheeler was born in New Fairfield, Conn., March 10, 1820. He was married to SARAH JANE WHEELER at Chester in 1842 and the following children were born to them: GEORGE A. (deceased), Farmer City; HOWARD OSCAR (Chicago); ELLEN PAULINA TURRELL (Medina NY) and NATHAN HORATIO (West Liberty, Iowa).

After the death of his first wife he was married to Emma Rowe, of Millertown, N.Y., and one child Ida B. Petty, of Canton, was born to them.

There also survive eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

After the death of his second wife Mr. WHEELER made his home for many years with his son GEORGE in this vicinity and was frequently seen in town, more often after the family moved nearer to the city.

He was quite hale for one of his years until stricken by the disease which ended his life.
