RETURNED TO DUTY 1865 AND CAPTURED 3 APR 1865 AT NAZORINE CHURCH, VA. AT THE SAME TIME GEN. RUFUS CLAY BARRINGER OF CONCORD, NC WAS CAPTURED. GEN. BARRINGER IS SAMUEL' UNCLE.
ANDREW WAS THEN SENT 17 APR 1865 TO JOHNSHON'S ISLAND, IL PRISON WHICH WAS A PRISON FOR CONFEDERATE OFFICERS. HE WAS PAROLED AND RELEASED 18 JUN 1865 AFTER TAKING OATH OF ALLEGIANCE.
AFTER THE WAR AND AFTER BECOMING A DOCTOR, SAMUEL WAS PRACTICING MEDICINE IN HARRISBURG, NC AND WAS VERY ACTIVE IN THE UCV (UNITED CONFEDERATE VETERANS) CABARRUS CAMP #212. HE HELD THE OFFICE OF CAMP SURGEON.
