Military service: Captain James S Pattie Company, 16th Regiment Texas Cavalry, Mantua, Collin County
Sherman Daily Register
Thursday, December 10, 1885
News reached the city today that Capt. J. S. Pattie, one of the leading citizens of Van Alstyne, and a prominent citizen of this county had died from a long siege of congestion of the stomach. The community certainly lost a good man and his family a true and noble husband and father when the angel of death called him to his reward above.
