Georgia M. Carlson, 92, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013. Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Memorials: May be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Georgia was a longtime resident of Fort Worth. She was born March 11, 1920, in Brownwood to Mr. and Mrs. G.A. Clements. She graduated from Brownwood High School and attended Howard Payne College. She received a bachelor of science degree from Texas Christian University. During World War II, she was personnel director at the Camp Bowie Military Post Exchange. She later held this same position at Carswell Air Force Base. While at the Camp Bowie Post, she met her husband, Lt. Col. Carl E. Carlson Jr., who was executive officer at the general hospital. They married in 1945 and moved to Mr. Carlson's hometown of Fort Worth in 1946. They owned Carlson's Restaurant, a favorite place for TCU and Paschal High students, on University Drive from 1950 to 1980. Mr. Carlson died in 1988. Both Mr. and Mrs. Carlson were members of Hemphill Presbyterian Church where they served as elders. The family gives special thanks to Maria Galindo, Georgia's friend and caregiver for more than two years. Thank you to Vitas Hospice Care and its fine staff of nurses. Survivors: Daughter, Karen Carameros; granddaughter, Kristen Kosla and husband, Bill; and great-granddaughters, Alexus B. Kosla and Eva D. Kosla.
