Joseph Henry Stambaugh, retired farmer of Bark Hill, near Union Bridge, died on Sunday [18th) morning at his home after an extended illness at the age of 74. He was born on April 5, 1878 in Carroll County, the son of the late Charles E. and Ellen Weddle Stambaugh. Surviving are his wife Anna Wilhide Stambaugh and the following children: Mrs. Marcie Creager, New Windsor, Edward, Theodore, Glenn, Elinor, all of Union Bridge, Mrs. Ellen Wallis, Baltimore, Mrs. Orilla Baker and Mrs. Anna Spurrier both of Union Bridge.
Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and 29 (23?) great-grandchildren, two brothers, Milton, Thurmont, Curtis, Detour; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Warner, Detour, Carrie Willhide, Thurmont. The body is resting at the Union Bridge funeral home of D. D. Hartzler and Sons where friends may call on Tuesday [20th]evening. Services will be held there on Wednesday, at 1 p.m. Rev. Donald Warrenfeltz officiating. Burial will be in the United Brethen cemetery, Thurmont. The IOOF of Thurmont will conduct services at the cemetery.
