Charles E. Stambaugh died at his home in Thurmont Sunday evening about 6 o'clock after an illness of only a few days, aged 83 years 14 days. He had resided in Thurmont for approximately 15 years, being formerly from near Detour. He was a son of the late Samuel and Eliza Stambaugh, near Detour, and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Clayona Stambaugh; four daughters, Mrs. Ellen Eyler, Monrovia; Mrs. Carrie E. Wilhide, Thurmont; Mrs. Annie Warner, Detour; Mrs. Effie Uglow, Erie, Pa.; three sons, Joseph H. Stambaugh, Union Bridge; Charles Milton Stambaugh, Thurmont; John Curtis Stambaugh, Detour; also three brothers, Samuel Stambaugh, Graceham; Harry Stambaugh, Thurmont; Henry Stambaugh, Walkersville; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Wood, Mrs. Elizabeth Schildt, Rocky Ridge; Mrs. Emma Eichelberger, near Thurmont. The body was taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Guy Wilhide, Thurmont, and the funeral took place today with a brief service at the home of Mrs. Wilhide at 1:30 o'clock. Further services in the Lutheran church, Thurmont, at 2 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Charles H. Corbett. Interment was in the United Brethren cemetery, Thurmont.
