Died, in Darlington, Wis., on Friday, Oct. 14, 1887, at noonday, near 1 o'clock, Julius W. Hollister. He was one of the most aged citizens of this region. His death may fitly call us to pause, and notice his long life and the suggestions it impresses. He was born in the State of New York, March 4th, 1796, and was therefore, nearly 92 years old. He was the last survivor of his father's family of ten children. With his wife and family survive him, he came to Darlington in 1858. He has resided here since that time. For several years he was an industrious mechanic. When age brought infirmity, his busy hands continued to find work about his home, until it was impossible to labor longer.
He was a conscientious man; a quiet and peaceable citizen, a person who wished to do right and do good.
The funeral services was held at the residence of the deceased on Saturday. Just before the sun went down the body of the aged pilgrim, whose soul had gone home, was laid away from our sight. Mr. Hollister had lived under every president of the United States 1796-1887.
