Gordon Lyle Lees, one of four children of Flossie Elzina (Inman) and Joseph Blaine Lees, was born on his parent's farm near Oakland, Iowa on June 10, 1918. Gordon grew up in the Oakland area where he attended country school. Following school, Gordon worked with his family on the farm.

Gordon and Corinne Mable Pierce of Lewis, Iowa were married at Lewis on August 26, 1941. Gordon and Corinne made their home east of Oakland, where they farmed. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Connie Jo, Gary Gordon, and Joseph Charles.

In 1950, the family moved to Warren County, Iowa to farm. In 1957, the family moved to the Fred Pierce farm in Mills County, Iowa where they farmed until 1960. They then moved to the William D. Baer farm south of Hastings, Iowa. In 1972, Gordon and Corinne built a home southeast of Hastings where they farmed until Gordon's retirement in 1982. Gordon and Corinne moved to Red Oak, Iowa following their retirement. They became members of the Faith Community Church in Red Oak and enjoyed traveling together.

Gordon loved visiting with people, hunting, and fishing. In the summer of 2003, Gordon's health forced him to move to the Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak. He and Corinne had been married 62 years when Gordon died at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital on October 19, 2003. He had attained the age of 85 years, 4 months, and 9 days.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law Bud Williams and Victor Laber. He is survived by his wife Corinne of Red Oak, IA; daughter Connie Jones and her husband Marion of Drummond, MT; sons Gary Lees and his wife Susan of Grand Saline, TX and Joseph Lees and his wife Marsha of Emerson, IA; sisters Esther Williams of Reliance, WY, and Phyllis Laber of Oakland, IA; brother John Lees and his wife Donna "Glee" of Loveland, CO; cousin Charles Lees and his wife Joan of Avoca, IA; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
