Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Lewis Kribs spent most of his life in Hespeler, where he was reeve, county councelor, school board secretary, lumberman, farmer, and contractor for bridges, factories and other buildings. The best remaining sample of his work is Knox Church, in Galt. He died in Hespeler and is buried in New Hope Cemetery in Waterloo. He married Elizabeth Pannabaker and they had 11 children.
