Son of Lewis Kribs and Elizabeth Pannabaker. Inducted in 1999 into the City of Cambridge, Ontario Canada Hall of Fame.
William Abram Kribs was born in Hespeler in 1859 in an old house across from the school on Kribs Street, named after his father Lewis. He followed the family trend in business, saw and lumber mills, flour mill, and most of all as a general contractor responsible for the construction of many buildings including the Kress Hotel in Preston and the C. Turnbull & Co. textile mill in Galt, most of the Forbes woolen mill in Hespeler, and the hotel in Burlington where the hospital now stands.

His lumber business was continued until 1914 and supplied material for local factories. During World War I his company designed special machinery for the manufacture of shell boxes. In 1917 the lumber business was discontinued and machinery was installed for the manufacture of warehouse trucks and washing machines. The business was incorporated under the name W. A. Kribs Company Limited in 1919. He retired in 1925.

In addition to his business interests, William Kribs was a member of the Hespeler Public Library Board for eighteen years and served as the warden of Waterloo County in 1895. On March 19th, 1898 he was elected to the Provincial Legislature representing Waterloo South, winning reelection in 1902 and remaining in the House until 1905.

He also served on the Hespeler council in 1886 and 1887, as Hespeler's reeve from 1888 to 1896, as Hespeler's mayor in 1914 and 1915, and also acted as sheriff of Waterloo County from 1926 to 1934.

William Kribs died in Hespeler on 27 Oct 1943 and is buried in New Hope Cemetery. Kribs Street now honors the memory of both Lewis and William Kribs.
