He was born Aug. 13, 1927, in Colfax, to August and Emma (Schrag) Allenbach. Raised in the Onecho area, he attended Long Hollow Grade School, and Colfax High School, graduating in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947, spending about a year in Korea. In 1953, he graduated from Eastern State College in Cheney with a degree in physical education.
Archie co-owned ACE Food Store with sister Edna and Cliff Presnell. He also drove a school bus for many years. In 1963, he began a career with the U.S. Postal Service in Colfax as a city mail carrier until his retirement in 1988.
On Valentine's Day, 1963, Archie married Alice Manchester Gylling in Colfax. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially playing pinochle and other card games. He was an avid sports fan, golfer and bowler. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of a wide variety of farm animals. He loved attending sporting events, coaching his children and watching them in their activities. He also faithfully followed his grandchildren's athletic endeavors.
He was a member of the Onecho Bible Church and the Wilcox Grange.
