Husband of Mary Ellen Nothstein and father of Alice Cora (Steiner), Samuel O., Charles Gideon, Walter John, Raymond, Floyd, and Grover Gerhard Gerhard

GERHARD, John, 1853-1937 (From Hazleton PA Plain Speaker Sat. July 31, 1937) John Gerhard, aged 84 of Weatherly, R.D. 2, died at 2 o'clock this morning following two weeks illness. His wife, formerly Mary Ellen Northstein preceded him in death in 1914. Mr. Gerhard was a member of the White Church in Packer Township. He served as a school director in Packer Township for twenty years; supervisor, eighteen years and several terms as poor director. Surviving him are the following children: Mrs. Frank Steiner of Delano; Walter of Linden, N.J.; and the following of Weatherly, R.E. 2: Samuel, Charles, Grover, with whom he made his home, and Raymond and Floyd. One sister, Mrs. David Gerhard, of Weatherly; three brothers, Allen of West Packer, Austin of Weatherly, R.D. 2, and William of New York and twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren also survive. The funeral will be held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with private services at the house. Public services will be conducted at the White church by Rev. Charles Holland, pastor of the Weatherly Lutheran church. Interment will follow in the White Church cemetery.
