Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon at his home on Central Avenue for William Lewis Young, 87 years old, who died at his home late Wednesday night after a long illness. Services were conducted by Rev. J. L. Robinson, assisted by Rev. T. S. Curry, and burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Mr. Young was one of the best known citizens of this city and was born in Taylor County on March 6, 1851. He was the first superintendent of county schools to be elected by popular vote and did much to promote education in this county, establishing a number of new sub-districts and improving the standards for the teachers. He was also a respected member of the Taylor County bar for many years, retiring from active law practice several years ago. He was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Catherine Robinson, on November 19, 1889, she having preceded him in death by several weeks. He was a devoted member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church and had been active in many community enterprises throughout his life. He is survived by two sons: Robinson Young, Campbellsville, and A. J. Young, Tucson, Arizona; five daughters: Mrs. E. P. Allen, Dehi, N. Y., Mrs. W. H. Byles, Lynch, Ky., Mrs. Roy Webster, Tucson, Arizona, Mrs. Almer Reeves, Louisville, and Mrs. Earl Henderson, Summersville. He was the last member of a family of eight children. Besides his children, he is survived by 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers were: Tom Newton, Burr Gilpin, Shelby Chandler, Dr. M. M. Hall, Garnett Dowell and Fred Graham.

Mrs. Bettie Young Allen, 76, daughter of the late W. L. Young and Nancy Robinson Young, was born in Campbellsville, Ky., Sept. 13th, 1890. Died January 10th, 1967 in Delhi, New York. She professed faith in Christ early in life and became a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Poe Allen; four children, Nancy Emmerson and Jack Allen, Delhi, N.Y.; Edgar Allen, Sacramento, Calif.; and Bill Allen, Brunswick, Ga.; also three sisters and one brother: Catherine Byles and Robinson Young, Campbellsville; Mary Reeves, Wilson, N.C.; and Nancy Henderson, Summersville, Ky. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. January 13th, at the Delhi Baptist Church with burial in the Delhi Cemetery.

Mrs. Lydia Young Webster, 59, died in Tucson, Arizona, September 22. Burial was in Tucson, on September 25. Mrs. Webster was united in marriage to Roy Webster, June 2, 1928. She was a native of Campbellsville, the daughter of the late William Lewis Young and Nancy Robinson Young. She is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Bettie Allen, Bushkill, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Catherine Y. Byles of Campbellsville; Mrs. Mary Y. Reeves, Louisville; and Mrs. Nancy Y. Henderson of Summersville. Also, two brothers, A. J. Young of Tucson and J. Robinson Young of Campbellsville. Mrs. Webster professed faith in Christ early in life and was a member of the Tucson Baptist Church, and was also a member of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the American Revolution. She had been a teacher in the Tucson school system.

Alexander Jackson "Jack" Young, 71 years of age, died in a hospital in Tucson, Arizona, June 12, after a brief illness. Burial was in Tucson, June 15. Mr. Young was a native of Campbellsville, son of the late William Lewis Young and Nancy Robinson Young. He was united in marriage in 1932 to Beulah Bateman, who survives. He professed faith early in life and was a member of the Eastern Star and the Masonic Lodge, in which he attained the 32nd degree. Mr. Young was employed as a signal maintainer for the Southern Pacific Railroad for forty-four years until his retirement three years ago. Besides his wife, he is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Bettie Allen, Townsend, Ga., Mrs. Catherine Byers, Campbellsville, Mrs. Mary Reeves, Louisville, and Mrs. Nancy Henderson, Summersville. Also, one brother, J. Robinson Young of Campbellsville.
