Antonio Joseph Marshall, 71, a native of the Azores islands and a resident of Aptos since 1933, died suddenly today in his home at 2863 Estates drive.

He came to the United States in 1900, settling first in Port Costa in Contra Costa county where he worked for the Southern Pacific railroad and then farmed near Moraga, After coining to Santa Cruz county, lie operated Marshall's auto court and service station in Seacliff for many years. He was a devout member of St. Joseph's Catholic church in Aptos, and a member of the CPDES and the Santa Cruz Portuguese Social club.

He is survived by his widow, Mary Marshall of Aptos; two sons, Anthony Marshall of Monterey and Albert J. Marshall of Aptos; a daughter, Mrs. Eva Facelli of Santa Cruz; a sister, Mrs. Rose Simas of Ripon; a brother, John Marshall of Port Costa, and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 9 a.m. in White's chapel, thence to the St. Joseph's church where a requiem mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul commencing at 9:30 o'clock. Interment will be in the Holy Cross cemetery. The rosary will be recited in White's chapel Friday at 8:30 p.m.
