Albert J. Marshall, a retired carpenter, died Thursday at his Capitola home. He was 70.

A native of Moraga, he had moved to Santa Cruz County in 1911. His parents operated Marshall's service station and store in Aptos for many years.

Before his retirement in 1973, he had worked as a carpenter for 40 years and was employed by Rosewall and Sons Inc. of Watsonville.

He was also an active member of the Saahareen Chapter of the West Coast Society of Magicians; Pacific Coast Association of Magicians; "Mystic B" Magicians Gub of San Jose and Society of American Magicians.

He was past president and a member of the CPDES Society, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Council No. 971.; former supreme officer and member of IDES Council No. 39; UPPEC Council No. 18; St. Anthony's Council No. 34; and First Charter Member of SES Council No. 59 of Watsonville.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elsie Marshall of Capitola; a son, Father Albert Wayne Marshall, SDB, of Richmond; a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Teherani and two grandchildren, Shoule and Bijan Teherani, all of Santa Cruz; and a brother, Anthony Marshall of San Mateo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Sunday at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 435 Monterey Ave., Capitola, with the Rev. Albert W. Marshall as celebrant.

Funeral services will take place at the church on Monday at 10 a.m.

Friends may visit Norman's Family Chapel 3620 Soquel Drive, Soquel, on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Entombment will take place at Holy Cross Mausoleum.
