Beulah Mae Simrell York, daughter of William Frederick Simrell and Elsie Susan Kearney Simrell, was born August 22, 1911, and passed away September 27, 2005.
She was a graduate of Flemington High School.
She came to Osceola and worked in the Republican Paper office as type setter, setting type by hand. Later she was employed by the telephone company as an operator and worked there until the company went dial.
Beulah married Amos York on January 7, 1933. She is survived by two sisters, Myrtle Simrell of the home and Verdean Keller of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three nieces, Carolyn and her husband Douglas Hopkins of Warrenton, Va., Patricia Ann Keller of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Janet Kayle and her husband Rev. Kenneth Brownd of Edmond, Okla.
She is also survived by three great nephews, two great nieces, two great-great nephews and one great-great niece, several cousins and many friends.
Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant brothers, brother-in-law John Keller, and nephew John Frederick Keller.
Services were held Friday, September 30, at Sheldon Goodrich Chapel. Ministers were Kenneth Brownd and Father Larry Lewis.
Music was "Just A Closer Walk With Thee", "Precious Memories" by Rev. Mary Guy, soloist and Gail Ingle, accompanist. Casket bearers were Mike Sprowl, Dennis Garrison, Harold McCrea, Willis Beardon, Bob Ziajor and Merle Simrell. Honorary casket bearers were Charles Kincaid, Jim Naylor, Ray Carroll and Charles Sheldon. Interment, Osceola Cemetery and arrangements by Sheldon Goodrich Funeral Home.
