All information regarding James McClain is taken from the MO d/c. The informant was his first cousin--Mrs. Eva Clark of Kennett, MO. Mrs. Clark was Eva May McClain, youngest child of George Wesley McClain and Ollie May McClain of Dunklin County, MO. Mrs. Clark apparently got James' mother's name wrong, and it should have been Addie Land, rather than Martha Land.
James McClain's father died in a pedestrian/train accident in 1934, and the family migrated west. James may have been staying with the Clark family at Kennett, MO. Just speculation, but that was commonplace during the 1930's.
James had a sister--Wanda McClain--who died as a child (1924-1930)and is interred at Parma Cemetery in Stoddard County, MO. Other siblings moved to Modesto, CA, and one brother moved to Chouteau, OK.
