George Stohl Rice was the son of Henry S. Rice and Cecelia Howland Rice. He was born at Renwick, June 6, 1890, and was reared and educated there, graduating from high school with the class of 1908.
He was married to Sarah Walkner in 1915. The couple farmed near Renwick until Rice's health failed, and the couple moved to Humboldt. Rice lived his entire life in Humboldt County except for two years spent in Washington and Oregon.
He was admitted to the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Dec. 6, and it was there he died Dec.22, at the age of 81.
Mr. Rice is survived by his wife, Sarah, and two sisters: Mrs. Eva Olden of Seattle, Wash.,and Mrs. Florence Overbaugh of Watertown, S.D. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters.
