Rebecca Hill Dyer was the widow of Robert Dyer, who was killed in the Civil War, when she married John Charles Cavender on 22 January 1861, Marshall County, Tennessee, by C.R. Darnell, MG. She had three children,Ann, Mary, and Sue Ellen Dyer, when she married John Cavender. They had two children, Alice Arah and George Thomas Cavender. Rebecca and her daughter Ann Dyer McAdams died in a flu epidemic on the same day, and are buried side by side.
