Our beloved "Bootsie" went to Heaven on February 18, 2013.
She is survived by her husband, "Buddy Love" Ervin Hawkins III, her daughter, Tiffany Messer (and Dekota) Allison and son, Joshua Messer and five grandchildren, Asiah, Isiah, Kain, Bella, Levii, Malachi. Also her surviving five siblings, Linda Greenberg, Phyllis Rogers, Carol Liner, Donnie Hutto and Shirley Scism. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marie Hutto. Bootsie was everything beautiful, an authentic, one of-a-kind, loving, tell-it-like-it-is woman, whose wisdom and wit will be greatly missed. She loved and inspired everyone she met, was a great cook (well known for her macaroni and cheese), was the happiest at the ocean tide and having fun, she bartended and bounced in several bars through the years, operated a maid service and landscaping business, managed The Haunted Mill in Belmont for many years, co-founded Share The Love charity for underprivileged children, was a caretaker to her mother for many years all the while making the world a better place by being in it.
Celebration of Life Service: Charlie's Restaurant & Bar, in Downtown Gastonia, NC
In lieu of flowers, memorials and condolences can be sent to Share The Love, a charity that she co-founded, 3615 English Gardens Rd., Charlotte, NC 28226.
Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
